Epidemiological comments: last Aujeszky’s disease case occurred in domestic pigs in 1999. Pursuant to the requirements set out in chapter 8.2 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, biosecurity measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the Aujeszky disease virus [ブタヘルペスウイルス1型] from wild boar to domestic pigs.
Note by the OIE Animal Health Information Department: the presence of the disease in wild boars was mentioned by the Veterinary Services as suspected but not confirmed in the 2nd half of 2009.
