数年前に発見された Infectious Retrovirus レトロウイルス XMRV は、マウスでは発ガン性があります。
今回の研究(1)から、数百万の米国人が現時点では病原性のわからない本ウイルスに感染している可能性があることもわかりました。

(1) 慢性疲労症候群(Chronic fatigue syndrome CFS n=101) 67% vs 健常者(n=218) 3.7%

(2) 前立腺がん(n=233) 23% vs BPH(n=101) 4%
