2010年1月14日現在、炭疽 anthrax 感染確定症例 計14人(男性10人、女性4人) このうち7人死亡。致死率 CFR 50% :地域別 NHS[国民健康保険] GGC(Greater Glasgow and Clyde)地域 7人(このうち死亡4人); Lanarkshire NHS地域 3人(このうち1人は入院中); Tayside 2人(死亡), Forth Valley NHS 1人(死亡), Fife 1人(生存)。
第1例目 Glasgow, 入院日 7 December 2009
第14例目 Dundeeの病院入院 6 January 2010
患者発生のピークは 2009年の最終週であった。

All cases reported a history of taking heroin by intramuscular, intravenous or subcutaneous injection and/or by other routes including smoking or snorting.

Preliminary case report of fatal anthrax in an injecting drug user in North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, December 2009

患者は42歳男性で、2009年12月6日入院。壊疽性筋膜炎 necrotizing fasciitis 治療。同月13日、多臓器不全で死亡。診断確定日（PCR検査）同月18日。Scotlandへの渡航歴なし。入院時の症状は膝窩部(ひざの裏側)へのドラッグ注射後の下肢腫脹。ドイツでの最後のヒト炭疽 anthrax感染事例：66歳男性、1994年報告。
