中国 Hubei 湖北(こほく)省。コーン風味の乳製品のサンプル検査で 1キロ当たり 4.8ミリグラム(mg)の melamine メラミンが検出された。2010年11月第3週、同省[地級市] Xiangfan 襄樊(じょうはん)市の市場監督機関は地元企業にメラニン汚染乳製品の出荷元を突き止めるように求めた。

In August [2010], police made 6 arrests at 2 locations related to the resale of the contaminated product. 3 people were arrested at a factory in the Qinghai Province [青海(せいかい)省], accused of shipping tainted powder to the neighbouring Gansu province [甘粛(かんしゅく)省]. The other 3 were apprehended under suspicion of hiding tainted milk powder that should have been destroyed in 2008 and then selling it to the Qinghai plant.
中国 Shanxi province 山西(さんせい)省 [陝西省 Sha(a)nxi ではない] Yangquan 陽泉(ようせん)市に本社のある乳業会社 Jinfulia Dairy Company で汚染粉乳 26トンの発見に関係し、工場長を含む 7人が逮捕されている (マスコミ報道)。

中国から輸入され、米国のペットフード製造メーカーで使われた小麦グルテンと米蛋白の濃縮品の中にメラミンが検出された(2007年)。腎不全で多数の犬、猫が死んだ[ProMED-mail 20070330.1099]。米国FDA規制によると、メラミンの混入は「改質」とみなす。中国では、生乳に水を加えて量を増やした後、メラミンを添加すると(見かけ上のタンパク質含有量)窒素含有量も増える。中国衛生部の報告(2008年9月22日)によると、53 000人以上の患者が確認され、このうち 13 000人が入院し、104人の乳児が重篤な状態に陥った。2009年1月、中国の裁判所は2人がメラミン汚染のミルクを製造、販売したとして死刑判決を下した。少なくとも小児6人が死亡し、300 000人近くが2008年に中毒性乳製品を飲み病気になった[ProMED-mail 20080922.2990 など]。ニュースワイヤーAFPによると、2009年3, 4月に製造されたメラミン混入乳製品が中国 Guizhou 貴州省の商店で販売されていた。これらの危険な食品の製造、販売に3社の関与が疑われている [ ProMED-mail 20100202.0352]。普通のやり方は、粉ミルクのメラミン混入。

29 September 2008 — More than 54,000 infants and young children have sought medical treatment in relation to the melamine-contaminated dairy products in China, causing kidney stone. Three deaths among infants have been confirmed, more than 13,000 infants are in hospital. Kidney stones in infants are normally very rare.
